Medical Weight Loss

- Semaglutide was FDA-approved in 2021 for treating patients who are considered overweight because of the significant weight loss component and safety. It offers a new, sustainable way to manage weight by reducing the feeling of hunger and cravings. Semaglutide has been shown to help people lose a significant amount of weight and keep it off much longer than any other weight loss solution on the market.
- Losing weight is hard because it's a 24/7 commitment. Two-thirds of American adults who are overweight have tried dieting to lose weight, but the obesity rate in the USA remains high at 43%. Even when people make significant lifestyle changes and get medical treatment, they usually only lose about 5% of their weight over a long period of time.
- Semaglutide mimics the performance of the human-created GLP-1 hormone, and it helps the pancreas release the right amount of insulin when blood sugar levels are high. This process delays gastric emptying, which causes appetite suppression, which leads to smaller portion sizes and fewer cravings.

This means tirzepatide, like other GLP-1 medications — such as Ozempic, Saxenda, Trulicity, Rybelsus, Victoza—may help you lose weight and keep it off long-term. The novel thing about tirzepatide is that it also works on GIP receptors. When you eat food, GIP hormones cause your body to release insulin. But when your blood sugar falls, they stimulate glucagon secretion. Controlling these processes can help support weight loss beyond what GLP-1 medications alone can do.
How much weight can you lose with Mounjaro (tirzepatide)?
Clinical data on Mounjaro weight loss shows that participants were able to drop up to 22.5% of their total body weight. Those are impressive stats, given that people taking many existing FDA-approved medications for obesity, on average, lose between 5 and 10% of their total body weight.
